Since I started taking Microsoft certification exams in 2010, this has been the biggest shift I have noticed. With this new change you are able to access the Microsoft Learn resources while taking the exam thanks to Microsoft. This gives you the opportunity to check up information that you do not already know. I don’t think it’s possible to memorize everything in this day and age with so many updates being released across many products. Exam takers will benefit greatly if you have prior experience and know where to look and what to search for the specific question. Also no one can over use it since the given time would be same.

As mentioned earlier by embracing this change, individuals who possess prior experience and know how to navigate the Microsoft Learn platform will greatly benefit. The ability to search for specific information during the exam can enhance the accuracy and relevance of responses. It is worth noting that the allotted time for exams remains the same, thus preventing potential misuse of this resource.

With these updates, Microsoft aims to empower learners by enabling them to have the most up-to-date information at their fingertips. This aligns with the fast-paced nature of technology, encouraging continuous learning and skills development.

I think quite rightly functionality to open the Microsoft Learn only exists for the role based exams and not available for fundamentals exams.

Read more about this using the link.

Let’s look at summary on the major updates.

  1. Except for Q&A and your profile, you will have access to anything on the learn.microsoft.com domain.
  2. There won’t be any added time.
  3. While you look up whatever knowledge you require in Learn, the exam timer will continue to run.
  4. Not fundamentals examinations, only role-based exams have access to this material.
  5. The same languages that are used for the exam will also be used for this resource.

There is a great session done by Vlad with Liberty Munson and you should watch this video and it is quite interesting.

Also if you are looking for practice assessments use this link and it will help you for your exams.

Microsoft Learn has launched Practice Assessments, a free exam preparation resource, allowing users to assess their knowledge and fill knowledge gaps for their Microsoft Certification exam. These assessments provide an overview of exam style, wording, and difficulty.

Thanks for reading this blog post. Will meet you again with the next post.
